Geevarghese Mor Coorilos2Dr. Geevarghese Mor CoorilosAnnouncement

Dear Student Christian Movements,

Grace and peace to you.

We wish to share an important update regarding the leadership of our global Officers. As many of you are aware, the term of Dr. Geevarghese Mor Coorilos, our Chairperson, came to its conclusion in May 2025. In addition, one of our Co–Vice Chairpersons Ramy Hanna tendered their resignation in 2024. These changes were formally received and affirmed by the Executive Committee, which has authorized a participatory search process to ensure continuity in the governance of the Federation.

At this moment of transition, we pause to express our deepest appreciation for the leadership and ministry of Bishop George. Throughout his tenure, Bishop George served the Federation with exceptional dedication. His thoughtful oversight, spiritual grounding, and unwavering commitment helped ensure that our shared work remained firmly rooted in Christian faith and guided by our Constitution and By-Laws. His representation of the WSCF in ecumenical, interfaith, and advocacy spaces strengthened our global presence and fortified relationships across the wider Christian family and civil society. He carried the voice of our movement with integrity, courage, and clarity—always attentive to the concerns and hopes of students and young people. Due to private appointments and reduced availability, Bishop George has now concluded his term and will be dedicating his ministry more fully to his local community. We offer him our heartfelt gratitude, prayers, and blessings. We also give thanks that he will continue to accompany the Federation as a valued resource person. His departure from the officer team marks a significant moment for our global fellowship, and we step into this new phase with care, clarity, and renewed trust in the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

With warm regards,
(on behalf of the WSCF Search Committee)

Pavlina Steiner
Vice-Chair WSCF

Search Process:
Interim WSCF Global Officers

Dear Student Christian Movements,

Warm greetings of peace from the Search Committee of the World Student Christian Federation!

The World Student Christian Federation has entered a search process to fill interim global leadership positions. This follows the conclusion of the term of Bishop Dr. Geevarghese Mor Coorilos in May 2025 and the earlier resignation of one of our Co-Vice Chairpersons, Ramy Hanna, in 2024. In response to these leadership needs, the WSCF Search Committee, appointed by the Executive Committee, has been mandated to identify and facilitate the selection of candidates to fill the vacant global governance roles. These interim appointments, the positions of Chairperson and Co-Vice Chairperson, will serve until the next General Assembly in 2027.

We warmly invite all our member movements to participate in this important discernment process by submitting recommendations for qualified candidates for the following positions:

  • Interim Chairperson
  • Interim Co-Vice Chairperson (male & student)

Detailed information about these roles and their responsibilities is provided below. Please send all suggestions and related communications directly to the WSCF Search Committee via email or through the Google Form by December 17.

Following the internal process of shortlisting and conversations with the candidates, the Search Committee aims to deliver its recommendations by the first half of February.

Thank you for your thoughtful attention, prayerful discernment, and active participation in this crucial process for the life and future of our Federation.

Warm regards,
WSCF Search Committee Members
Pavlina Steiner; Ebere Ubesie; Agge Angusson
Jacquelyn Tsai-Hsun Tsao; Chris Ferguson

Information about the roles:

The four Officers of the Federation—Chairperson, Vice-Chairpersons, and Honorary Treasurer—form the core leadership of the WSCF between General Assemblies. They bear constitutional responsibility for providing political, strategic, and institutional guidance, ensuring continuity in the Federation’s mission, vision, and witness. As stated in the WSCF Constitution: “The Officers shall, between meetings of the Executive Committee, act on behalf of the Federation in any matters which, in their judgment, require immediate attention.” In this capacity, the Officers collectively serve as the highest governance authority between ExCo meetings and the General Assembly.

As stated in the Constitution and By-Laws of the World Student Christian Federation (WSCF), the roles of the Officers are defined as follows:

1.1 The Chairperson will be in regular contact with the General Secretary, offering advice and personal support and ensuring that the goals and priorities of the Federation are acted upon. This support will be especially important on controversial or delicate matters faced by the Federation.

1.3 The functions of the Vice-Chairpersons include deputizing for the Chairperson, and other specific roles as suggested by the Executive Committee.

2. The Officers should meet only in case of emergency to act on behalf of the WSCF between meetings of the Executive Committee and/or the General Assembly, provided that they have consulted with all other Executive Committee members.

3. The Officers should provide support and advice to the work of the staff between meetings of the Executive Committee and/or the General Assembly.

4. Competence is the primary criterion for the selection of Officers, but necessary balances should be considered. The Nominations Committee should give an acceptable explanation if such balances cannot be achieved.
