WSCF 37th General Assembly: Rejoicing in Hope

OPENING ASSEMBLY PRESS RELEASE

GA 2022 BerlinThe 37th World Student Christian Federation (WSCF) General Assembly officially kicked off in Berlin with the theme, “Rejoice in Hope” (Romans 12:12), and a sub-theme of “Young People, Journeying Together Toward Justice and Peace.” Over 100 movements from 94 countries will attend this year’s assembly along with senior friends, partners, and guests from 24-30 June.

The WSCF has held general assemblies or general committees on a regular basis since 1895, the year of the federation's founding. The assembly is the most representative and highest-ranking body of WSCF.

“It's going to be a historic moment as we will also celebrate the 127th anniversary of the life and witness of the Federation. The General Assembly will address the many challenges that the world, especially the youth and students, are facing in a rapidly changing global context and strive to provide shape and content to a new Federative Covenant that would enable the Federation to be more prophetic and transformative,” said Dr Geevarghese Mor Coorilos, chairperson of WSCF. “Hopefully, this will be a turning point in the life of the Federation since it is aimed at helping reclaim the movement's character and youth their altruistic and idealistic spirit.”

WSCF 37th General Assembly Rejoicing in HopeNatia Tsintsadze, regional executive for Europe and global program director (WSCF) welcomed the participants, hoping that it will be a platform to unify thousands of young people worldwide as a resilient and relevant movement. “These coming seven days will be full of networking, learning. and creating a clear shared vision for our shared future,” said Natia Tsintsadze.

“The WSCF General Assembly will mark a turning point in the life of the federation in two ways. From a prophetic voice point of view, where students will gather to re-envision the role of the young people in the twenty-first century and from a strategic point of view by developing a pathway for international solidarity and community affirmation in a new federative covenant,” said Marcelo D. Leites, WSCF general secretary.
